Why I do what I do..........

So, I’ve wanted to write a blog for such a long time, but, I’m not sure if other creatives find this, but it’s difficult to get my thoughts out of my head and into words. As the new website is up and running now, it seemed like the time to give it a proper try, so here goes…………………………

Why do I do what I do? A question I get asked a lot and quite simply, if I don’t create I don’t feel happy. My work, which is never a chore, is the release I need to make everything else make sense. I am extremely lucky to have a loving and supportive family but when times get hard, being able to make, makes me happy.

It was in making my large Jardin Majorelle Paper Cut Out (the Yves Saint Laurent garden in Marrakech) that I realised I needed to make art. I hadn’t focused on a project for a long time and I had spiralled into depression and sever anxiety, for a second time. In my mind, this image kept on appearing and I just decided to make it. The best thing I did. The best therapy I could get and the start of a whole new chapter of my creative life.
